Create Acrostic Puzzle

The acrostic puzzle has the same question/answer format as the crossword puzzle, but allows for a different type of puzzle field. There aren't any black squares and the answers are all connected to the 'Hidden solution'.

The hidden solution is crucial for the acrostic puzzle to be generated. It is the skeleton that holds everything together.

This hidden solution cells are marked in a different color and always form a straight line. It is required to fill this in before the algorithm can piece together your puzzle!

With the wide range of languages used to create acrostic puzzles, the acrostic puzzle field needs to support the insertion of special characters like ü, á and ê.

To make it as user-friendly as possible, you can now enable a special character panel that can be shown below the puzzle field

It can now also be shown as shortcut icon within an active crossword puzzle cell ('inline').

To allow a diverse range of acrostic puzzles, the descriptions can be set up in any way you like.

Use text, image or audio as a hint to challenge your puzzle player to find the right answer connected to your description.

If you like more control over your acrostic puzzle (maybe because you are a professional or a puzzle enthusiast), keeping the questions in input order is for you.

The algorithm will only generate the puzzle field and does not perform any random magic to make the words fit the hidden solution.

Activating this will force you to perform the hidden solution magic yourself.

The helper numbers (top right corner) are included by default. They give the puzzle player hints on which characters match across the puzzle field, giving some insight into the possible answer composition. Puzzle field cells with the same helper number contain the same character.

If you feel this is too easy, you can disable the helper numbers. Or if you would like to make it more easy, you can even automate the autofill of the same helper numbers.
