We've rewritten our terms

The new terms are clearer and more complete: licences for the public and school library, rules for AI, credits and takedowns, and a fuller section on liability. The summary below and the full document already show the new version. Until 1 November 2026, the terms of 18 September 2026 still apply.

What you're agreeing to

Puzzel.org is run by Daan Weustenraad in the Netherlands. You agree to these terms by creating an account, placing an order or using the site: use it lawfully, don't break it for other people, and stay within your plan.

Accounts are for people aged 16 and over, or acting for a school or organisation.
Don't misuse, overload or reverse-engineer the platform.
Stay within the limits of your plan, and keep your account information accurate.

Paying and cancelling

Prices include VAT where it applies, and you see them before you pay. A subscription renews automatically at the price you bought it at, until you switch renewal off.

Switch off renewal from your dashboard. You keep your plan until the period ends.
Consumers in the EU can withdraw within 14 days of ordering for a full refund.
Credits and session allowances have no cash value and aren't refundable.
Delete your account from the dashboard, or ask via daan@puzzel.org.

Your content stays yours

Word lists, images, whole activities: yours. We only get the licence we need to host them and show them to the people you share with, and we never use them for anything else, like training AI, without your consent.

You keep full ownership and all intellectual property rights of your content.
Publish to the public library and other teachers may copy and adapt it. Their copies stay theirs.
Move something into your school's library and it stays with the school, even if you leave.
You confirm you have the rights to what you upload, and you keep your own copies of what matters.

Content rules, and when we step in

We don't monitor what you make, but we act on reports. Content that is unlawful, infringes someone's rights or is unsuitable for its (often young) audience can be removed, and we tell you why.

Report content by email, or with the Report button on a library page.
US copyright notices go to our registered DMCA agent.
Serious or repeated breaches can suspend or end an account. If a breach can be fixed, you get the chance first.

Students and their data

Players don't need an account. If you collect their details, your school (or you) decides what happens with that data and we process it on your behalf. We never sell it or use it for advertising.

Collect only the registration fields you actually need.
Make sure any consent your school or the law requires is in place.
Schools can request a data processing agreement from us.

School gradebooks

Connect Google Classroom or your LMS only for classes you're allowed to, with your school's approval where it asks for it. For the scores we send, your school decides what happens with its students' data and we process it on its behalf.

Grades are calculated automatically — check them before you rely on them.
Depending on your setting, a later run by a student can replace a grade we sent.
Stop sending per assignment, or disconnect entirely, at any time.

Liability

Puzzel.org is provided as it is. If something goes wrong through our fault, our liability is capped at what you paid us in the past 12 months, with a minimum of EUR 100, and never covers indirect damages.

Check AI output and automatic grades before you rely on them.
Business customers tell us about a problem first and give us time to fix it. Claims must be made within 12 months.
We aren't liable for outages at our hosting, payment or AI providers, or other events beyond our control.
Business customers cover claims caused by their own content or use, not claims caused by our mistakes.

Changes, and Dutch law

Big changes to these terms are announced on this page at least 30 days ahead. If you keep using Puzzel.org after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, close your account and get back what you prepaid for the time left.

Dutch law applies. Consumers keep the protection of their own country's law.
Disputes start with an email to daan@puzzel.org, not a courtroom.
An agreement your school signed with us, like a DPA, comes before these terms.
