Animal classification game
Eleven animals from the five vertebrate groups, one secret card each. Players ask whether it is a mammal, can fly or eats meat, turn down what no longer fits, and the first to name the other's animal wins.
When to use it
A science lesson on animal groups, played in pairs at the end so the words get used. A starter where pupils try it alone against the computer. Revision before a test on classifying animals.
What makes it this
Built on the Guess who generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.
- How do players ask?: Your questions
Players tap the questions you write, and every answer is checked against the cards, so it is always right.
In the builder: Cards & questions
- Who answers the questions
The players: the player holding the card taps Yes or No, and a wrong answer is not accepted. The game: answered from the cards at once. Playing alone, the game always answers.
In the builder: How it plays › General
- Facts on the cards
Each card can carry a short fact that players read when they tap the card. Switching it on adds a fact field to every card.

Why the example is built this way
-
The questions are the lesson.
Every question is something pupils learn when they classify animals: which group, can it fly, does it have legs, does it eat meat. A good question is one that splits the board, so asking well means knowing the facts.
-
Players answer about their own card.
Who answers the questions is set to the players: the one holding the card taps Yes or No, and an answer that does not fit the card is not accepted. Deciding whether a dolphin is a fish is part of the game.
-
Questions nobody can argue about.
Lives in water and lays eggs were left out on purpose: penguins and frogs live on land and in water, and many sharks give birth to live young. Each animal is clearly one thing or the other for every question here.
