Why the example is built this way

Three labels that never overlap.
A word can be a noun and the subject at the same time, and only one label is accepted per word. Offer labels where every word has exactly one right answer.

Nothing tagged that a grammar book would argue over.
Leave out nouns used as modifiers and words ending in -ing. Little words like the and a stay untagged, which gives each sentence somewhere to rest.

Vary the endings so none gives it away.
Mix regular and irregular past tenses with a present one, and singular nouns with plurals, so pupils can't sort by an -ed or an -s.
