Phones as buzzers
Everyone joins with a name and their phone becomes the buzzer. The clue shows on their own screen, so it works remotely too.
When to use it
A company quiz night where everyone plays for themselves. A team meeting with half the people on a video call who can't see your screen. A class revision game where every pupil answers on their own phone, instead of one voice speaking for a whole team.
What makes it this
Built on the Jeopardy generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.
- How it's played
Run the board from your screen, add buzzers on players' phones, or let each player work the board on their own.
In the builder: How it plays › Who's playing
- Players join from elsewhere
For a game over a video call: phones also show the clue and its options, for players who can't see your screen.
In the builder: How it plays › Who's playing
- Players type their answer
The fastest buzz types the answer on their phone, or taps an option, and the console judges it against the accepted answers. You can undo any judgement.

How a round runs
- 1 Open the host console and open the room.
- 2 Players open the play link on their phone and join with a name.
- 3 Pick a clue. It shows on every phone, and the buzzers open.
- 4 The fastest buzz types an answer, and the console checks it for you.

Five rounds of general knowledge, played on phones: buzz first, then type your answer. The fastest thumb gets the clue, a miss passes it down the queue, and the scoreboard moves on every screen at once.

Why the example is built this way
-
Short answers, every spelling listed.
A phone keyboard and a matcher decide here, not your ear. Keep typed answers to one or two words and add every spelling people will actually type as an accepted answer.
-
Forty seconds to read, buzz and type.
The clock covers reading the clue, buzzing and typing on a phone, which the default twenty seconds doesn't. Set Seconds to answer to 40; a steal runs on half of it.
-
Wrong answers cost nothing here.
Leave Wrong answers cost the clue's value off. With a matcher judging, a spelling nobody thought of shouldn't cost anyone points. You can still undo any judgement from the console.
Build it yourself

- 2 Change the settings under What makes it this. Each one says where it is in the builder.
