Shaped word search
The grid is cut to the shape of a picture: a heart, a star, your logo. The words hide inside the outline.
When to use it
A kindness week or anti-bullying assembly, with the words inside a heart. A club night or open day where the grid takes the shape of your crest. A lesson before a holiday, where the outline carries the season and the words carry the topic.
What makes it this
Built on the Word search generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.
- Grid shape: Your own
The grid follows the outline of this picture. A shape on a plain or transparent background reads best.

The grid is cut to the shape of a picture, so the empty space around the heart is not a mistake — there are simply no letters there. Fourteen kind words are hidden inside it, in every direction.

Why the example is built this way
-
A solid silhouette on a plain background.
The grid follows the outline of the picture. One filled shape cuts cleanly; inner lines, shading or a second object turn into holes in the grid.
-
A bigger grid than a plain square needs.
The shape cuts cells away, so the same words need more room. This example sets Smallest grid to 16 to leave them enough of the heart.
-
No word longer than ten letters.
A shape has fewer long straight runs than a square. A very long word only fits across the widest part and pushes the whole grid bigger.
