Reward the work with badges you design.
Switch badges on for all your courses or just one, give each badge a picture, a name and a rule, and students earn them as they work through a course. Beside the grades, or instead of them.
- Your own badges Design your badges once in your LMS settings and add them to any course, or make one for a single course: one of twelve pictures in any colour, or your own upload, with a name, a category and a description.
- Earned by doing the work Completing an activity, if you like above a minimum score; completing a task, a page or the whole course. Or you give a badge by hand.
- Work outside Puzzel counts too A Task block stands for a game on Zoom, a museum visit or a book read at home, with links to where it happens. The student marks it done, you do, or either.
- A record to keep An earned badge stays earned. Students print a badge report of what they earned, and you print one for a student or the whole class, under a header you write.
- Quiz champion Knowledge · Romans: who was who? with at least 80%
- Team player Teamwork · Completing Quiz night on Zoom
- Explorer Knowledge · Completing Who were the Romans?
- Good helper Teamwork · Awarded by you
- Course complete Completing the course
Course settings → Badges: each badge with its picture, its category and what earns it.
For the work that happens somewhere else.
A game on Zoom, a trip, a book read at home: a Task block puts it in the course, with what to do and links to where it happens, so it counts for its page and can earn a badge. Try it: mark it done.
- You choose who marks it done: the student, only you, or either
- Mark it done for one student or the whole class at once
- Required by default, so with “Pages in order” on, the next page waits until it is done
Quiz night on Zoom
On Thursday at 7 pm we play the Romans quiz together on Zoom. Open it from here when we start, and mark this task done afterwards.
How badges work
- For every course, or just one Switch badges on once in your LMS settings and every course has them; any course can still say otherwise in its own settings. Switch them off and the badges you made are kept for next time.
- Grouped by category Give badges a category, such as Teamwork or Knowledge, and the badge report groups them that way.
- A page includes its subpages A badge for a page is earned once its activities, checklists and required tasks are done, and those of the pages under it.
- Scores that count An activity badge can ask for a minimum score. Where you gave your own score, yours is the one that counts.
- Earned stays earned A lower score later never takes a badge away. You can take one back yourself, and “Reset progress” removes the badges the course gave while keeping the ones you gave.
- Badges instead of grades Switch on “No grades”, for every course or for one, and the course has no Grades view, no scores for students and no certificate.

Twelve pictures, in the course colours.
Every preset comes in the six course colours and prints sharp. Or upload a picture of your own for a badge.
A record of what they did, on paper.
A badge is saved the moment it is earned, with a copy of its picture and words, so the record holds when you change the course later.
- Students print the badges they earned in a course, grouped by category, each with the date it was earned
- You print the same report for one student or the whole class
- Your own title, a second line and a name to sign it with at the top
- Course builder Text, media and activities as blocks, on pages you write.
- Classes and groups A list of names for a class, sign-in for a list of people.
- Grades and feedback Progress per activity, your score and comment, and an export.
- My learning and branding A login page and a home page for every learner — in your own colours, for an Academy.
