Twenty-four doors to Christmas Eve: behind every door, how Christmas is celebrated somewhere else in the world.
Why the example is built this way
-
A tradition behind every door.
Each door tells how Christmas is celebrated somewhere else in the world, from Sinterklaas in the Netherlands to Genna in Ethiopia.
-
Two doors ask a question first.
Iceland and Catalonia ask a question on a gift tag, and the right answer opens the door. Two other doors hold a task: Merry Christmas in three languages, and a card for someone.
-
Set the dates in your copy.
Here every door opens any time, so you can try them all. In your copy, choose On their own day and the first door opens on 1 December, the last on Christmas Eve.
Build it yourself
- 1 Open the Advent calendar builder and fill in the first tab, Calendar & doors.
- 2 Share the link with your players, or embed the activity in your own site.
Or skip the building: copy this example and swap in your own content.

Riddle of the day
A wall of doors with a riddle on every door. Solve it and the door opens onto the answer and a fun fact: open one each morning as a class routine.
Kindness challenge
A kindness challenge for the class: twenty doors, each with one small kind act to do at school or at home. Open a door, do the task and tick it off as done.
