One answer per row, and one marked column that spells the word the lesson is about.
When to use it
The end of a topic, when the class should see how the separate terms fit under one idea. A revision starter that checks the definitions from last lesson. A homework task where the word in the column tells pupils they got every row right.

Built on the Acrostic generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.

Nine clues from one ecology lesson, one word each. Every answer gives up a single letter to the coloured column, and read from the top those nine letters spell the term the whole lesson is about.

Why the example is built this way

Give the rare letters several candidates.
The builder decides which answer sits on which letter. Make sure the key term's awkward letters appear in two or three of your answers, so no row is left without a word.

The column spells itself as rows are filled.
Shuffle the solution letters stays off. The term then appears under the grid as each row is answered; shuffled, it would turn into an unscramble.

Clues are the lesson's own definitions.
Each clue is the definition the class was actually given, so the puzzle checks the lesson rather than general knowledge. Keep the helper numbers too: hiding them makes it much harder.
