Race to the finish
A winding board of question tiles, shortcuts and setbacks. Play it alone, against a friend, or as the lesson’s last ten minutes.
When to use it
Revising a unit before an end-of-unit test, with pupils in pairs racing each other on their own devices. A homework task where a pupil plays alone and meets different questions each game. A quiz corner at an open day, where a visitor can start a game without anyone setting it up.
What makes it this
Built on the Board game generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.
- Game mode: Race to the finish
Roll, move, answer: a right answer moves the pawn on, a wrong one knocks it back, and the first pawn on the last tile wins.

- Track pattern: Winding road
In the builder: Questions & board
- Highest number on the die
1–6. A smaller die means more landings per lap, so more tiles fire.

Roll, move, and answer whatever the tile you land on asks. A right answer walks you two tiles further on, a wrong one back one — and you have to hit the last tile exactly.

Why the example is built this way
-
Twenty-four questions for eight question tiles.
A question tile draws at random from the questions not yet used in that game, so nothing repeats and the next game asks different ones. Write about three questions for every question tile.
-
A four-sided die on a short board.
Set Highest number on the die to four: more landings per lap means more tiles fire, and an exact finish stays winnable. Twenty-four tiles is short enough to reach the end in one sitting.
-
No shortcut lands on another shortcut.
A bonus that drops you onto a setback that throws you back onto the bonus is a pawn that never leaves. Point every jump at a plain, info or question tile.
