Type before you turn
The card asks for the answer before it shows it. Recognising a word and producing it are different skills.
When to use it
Vocabulary a class has already met and now has to produce, not just recognise. Terms a new starter should be able to say unprompted by the end of their first week. Ten quiet minutes of self-study before a speaking test, where each learner sets their own pace.
What makes it this
Built on the Flash cards generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.

Players write what they think is on the back before it is shown, and what they wrote is saved with the results.

Off gives the player a button to call the next card instead, so they set their own pace.

Runs the per-card clock and shows its bar. With it off nothing turns a card over by itself — the player asks for the back when they are ready.

Each card shows a Spanish word with its article. Type the English for it, then turn the card over to see how you did — one word, and no "the". Take as long as you like on each one.

Why the example is built this way

Fifteen nouns, each with one natural answer.
The typed word is checked against the back of the card and a second spelling can't be accepted. Pick words with one obvious answer, and say in the instructions whether to leave out the article.

Time each card is switched off.
The default is five seconds a card, too short to read a word and type an answer, and the card turns over with whatever was half-typed. A recall drill is paced by the learner.

A button calls the next card.
With Move through the deck by itself on, the back is up for about two seconds. Off, there's time to compare what you wrote with what was there, which is the whole lesson.
