Arabic crossword with vowel marks
The grid runs right to left for Arabic, Hebrew or Persian. For Arabic, the harakat are part of the answer.
When to use it
An Arabic class learning to read and write with harakat, at the end of a vocabulary topic. A lesson on nouns of place and instrument, where one vowel on the mim is the difference between them. Homework for learners of Arabic who need to write words, not just recognise them.

Why the example is built this way

Tell players where the marks go.
The check is exact, so state the rule in the description: a mark on every letter except the last one and the long vowels ا و ي. Leave out words with a shadda or tanween, because two marks on one letter have to be tapped in the order you typed them.

Pick words that cross on bare letters.
A shared square needs the same mark in both words, so بَ never crosses بِ. Words with a long alif and a bare last letter give the grid its crossings. Eight of these twelve have an alif.

Put the Arabic letters on screen.
Turn on Special-character keys and fill it with the whole Arabic alphabet, so a player without an Arabic keyboard can still type every word. Use every letter, not only the ones in your grid, or the panel gives the answers away. The vowel marks have their own bar under the grid.
