Hide something inside it Crossword puzzle

Graduation crossword

A crossword about the graduate: five years of lectures, deadlines and flatmates as clues, and marked cells that spell a message for them.

When to use it

A graduation party, where the crossword goes on the poster friends make about the graduate. A gift passed round the table during the speeches. A link sent to the family chat on the day itself.

What makes it this

Built on the Crossword puzzle generator with these changed. Everything else is the default.

  1. Hidden solution

Marked cells spell out a word or phrase that players enter to finish the puzzle.

Sofia's graduation crossword

Sixteen clues from five years of a biology degree, for the day Sofia graduates. The marked cells spell a message for her: fill them in and it appears under the grid.

16 words

Why the example is built this way

  1. Clues are jokes, not definitions.

A graduation crossword is read aloud at the party. Clue the library they lived in and the flatmate who ate their yoghurt, and keep every clue free of the other answers.

  2. The marked cells hold a message.

Hidden solution spells a short message in marked cells, and it appears under the grid as they fill in. Check that each of its letters shows up in several answers, so the builder always finds a cell for it.

  3. Print it for the poster.

A crossword prints straight from the builder, with the clues under the grid and a solved copy for you. Glue the blank one onto the poster and send the link to anyone who is not at the party.
