Twelve words from a Korean school day. Every square holds one syllable: type in Hangul with your own Korean keyboard, or tap the button in a square to pick the word from the bank.
12 words
Why the example is built this way
-
Pick long words that share syllables.
Each square holds a whole syllable, and Korean has thousands of them, so two short words rarely have one in common. Words of three or four syllables that share 학, 교 or 생 cross easily. With two-syllable words, only a few of them fit in the grid.
-
Let the crossings teach the roots.
Words that cross share a syllable, and often its meaning too: 생 (student) ends 중학생, 고등학생, 대학생, 대학원생 and 유학생. Point it out afterwards, or put it in the finish message.
-
Add the word bank for beginners.
Players type Hangul with the Korean keyboard on their phone or computer, one syllable per square. Learners without one can tap the button in a square and pick the whole word from the bank. Turn the bank off once they can type Hangul.
